Looking for a laptop...
Hey Guys!
I'm wanting to buy a cheap laptop for wireless connection around the house and to use when I'm staying in a hotel. So the primary use will be for IE and AIM. Nothing else is really needed. I would LOVE to have it by Saturday before I leave for Cali. Any suggestions?? |

You might want to try ebay Michelle - for what you're looking for, I'd bet you could find something quite decent for under $500... GL!

Try www.tigerdirect.com they have an inexpensive unit on their front page. I have dealt with them in the past for parts and supplies for my home-built desktop and had no problems.

Plus it will always work and you get a bunch of cool apps to use: iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD (aswell as iTunes). Finally, although you can use AIM on a mac, Apple's own version called iChat is way cool ! You have to go to an apple store and play around with them... Anywho, good luck searching..! |
Have you thought about the new handheld things they have coming out these days? I don't know how reliable the connection would be though... Good luck with your laptop search, and as Jay said, I would check eBay.

I have narrowed it down to 2:
Dell http://www1.us.dell.com/content/prod...=19&l=en&s=dhs Gateway http://www.gateway.com/products/GCon...=nx200s&seg=hm Let me know your thoughts... |
Looking at the 2 links, I would go with the Dell. But that's only because I've heard about problems with Gateway. I've never had any of them myself, but I almost bought a Dell one time if that counts. But I don't think you can go wrong with any decision if you get the repair/maintenance plan. Good luck with your decision.

I would go with the Dell from those two. I have had both Dell and Gateway for work machines, Dell seemed to have better warranty service
