Best Place to Sell Used Car Online?

Hey Guys,

I'm (finally) about to list my 97 Grand Cherokee for sale online. What site do you think I'd have most luck selling it? (I'm not going to post it on eBay.)

Have you considered http://www.autotrader.com ? Also, I've sold 3 cars on ebay and did very well on all three. There is no place you can get that many pairs of eyes looking at your car for that small of a fee. Just my 2 cents.

Dang, too slow. I agree with ncx.

From personal experience; I advertised my previous X5 4.4 at both www.cars.com and autorader.com but it was www.cars.com that sold it in one week. Most BMW dealers use cars.com as you can see from the search results.

I sold my old e46 on carsdirect.com and sold it within 3 weeks.

Carmax offered me $2,500 for it. I could get at least $8,500 for it privately.

Throughout the past few years, CarMax has been offering less and less than KBB. Definitely better off selling privately.

my buddy used to sell cars on eBay and he's gotten top dollar for every car he's sold. If you do go the eBay route, make sure to take A LOT of pictures of the car, from every angle, inside and out. (i.e. the back of the car closed, back of the car w/trunk open, each rim, etc.) His strategy was to set a reserve price(there was no Buy it Now option back then) and set the opening bid at $1. Back in the day, once you got 30+ bids, you're item was placed on the front page under "hot items" and would get extra exposure, although that might not be the case anymore.

...Good suggestion Howard..That's where I found my X....saw it, reserve unmet, I emailed the seller...made a deal...My Bro has bought and sold numerous rides on ebay....you get a lot of ad coverage for the price....
