I don't want to offend anyone but i'm almost positive that I heard that morning of Sept 11, 2001 on CNN for a few minutes that the plane was shot down. I'll never forget b/c the events of that morning are engraved in my memory forever. Not only that but a few shows that I've seen on PBS and thet History channel cited witnesses that saw military jets flying right before they heard the explosion.

We were also told the State Dept building had been bombed and was on fire. There were all sorts of wrong reports that morning, due to the incomprehensible nature of the situation, as well as the 24-hour news, "got to have something to say and can't take time to verify it".

:iagree: There were reports on local DC radio news that morning that several planes were on their way to crash into government buildings after flight 93 went down.

Also, remember when the OK City bombing took place? AP radio news reported that the Nation of Islam may have been responsible for it:tsk:

The OK City bombing is very strange. The reports of the entire day gave detailed descriptions from reporters on the scene and interviews with government officials about the bomb teams removing multiple bombs from within the building -- some of them in the heating ducts. Apparently everyone forgot about those reports afterwards when it was decided that the guilty parties had not planted bombs within the building but had instead used a truck parked on the street nearby.

While in a panic situation, often there are rumours that are started, but when you have a situation where a coverup is taking place, the earliest reports are usually the most accurate before anyone has had a chance to manipulate the information.
