That's sounds very similar ... I regret leaving too! My grandfather started me with pony rides very young - he use to take me riding every weekend & then I got hooked into show jumping ... oh the good old days :)

LOL, I hated trail riding! I'd much rather be in the ring either jumping or flat work! Everyone thought I was crazy though.
