My thoughts from the weekend ...

Well, while I was very happy to see Barbaro win (what a beautiful horse), I have to admit I was hoping it would be Brother Derek. The stories of Dan Hendricks & Alex Solis, what they both have been through (& still going through) - deeply touched me.
(When I was a little girl, one of my dreams was to be a jockey ... LOVE LOVE LOVE horses ... :) )

Just wanted to share ....

Come visit Ocala, FL in Marion County, Florida. There are over 900 horse farms in the county. Bring lots of carrots. Marion's got more horsies than you got showgirls. Lots of two-lane twisties if you got the X, and plenty of barn kitties to sleep on the hood. And the gendarmes go easy on the ladies I hear.

Yeah, I could of qualified back in high school - but have since passed the height/weight requirements :tsk: ... although I did show jump back in the day .... that was alot of fun - just not as fun as racing .... I like to go fast!!!!

OH now that sounds like a plan!!! Horses, farms, the ocean (I miss so much), & kitties to sleep on my X ... much better than the desert these days - I am so over LV right now ... need a vaca soon ;)

You could do St. Augustine Beach and Ocala at one go, but fall or spring is better. It's starting to get HOT here and we really need rain. Late March through April is the time to do Ocala. Funny...we were thinking about doing a Vegas getaway.

He's not done.....Look for Brother Derek to go wire to wire in the Preakness Stakes...turns are tighter, giving a distinct advantage to the faster horses...Derek is faster......Barbaro is a fine colt too....I predict a Barbaro/Brother Derek Exacta....adv. Brother Derek if he draws inside of Barbaro.....I also predict no triple crown winner, again.....go to the bank with that one....

Well, I hope at Preakness he (Brother Derek) gets a better starting gate position & doesn't lose his shoe again :(

Otherwise, so you don't think Barbaro could maybe pull it off for 3?

Very cool! I used to do A-Circuit showing when I was in my teens. We went all over the place showing. I really regret I quit when I turned 16 and got my license (like most do.) I'll have to scan some old pictures and post'em sometime. :)

...He could, but needs solid pace set in front of him...1/4 mile in 23-24secs, 1/2 in 46, 6 furlongs in 1:09 or so....then needs some racing room and luck....much smaller field than the derby.....could be....
