What does 'Factory renewed' mean? Is that refurbished?

benathon 08-10-2006 06:00 PM

It is refurbished...

I don't think you can find a HDTV Plasma anywhere close to this price right now.

Ben,

I am surprized it works for you in Colorado. Plazma screens don't work well in higher altitudes.

I have friends in Canada who have ad them blow out because of altitude!

Beware of your purchase!

Thats a good deal, I recently just got a 37inch sharp aquos lcd for around 1000. My guess is that it comes with a 90day warr.

IMO, a grand for a 42" 720p plasma with a tuner is not going to get you a great display, even refurbished. I imagine that if you saw it next to other 42" plasmas (HD or ED) you would be surprised at the big differences in picture quality between them (in color, black levels, skin tones, and the internal scaler). That said, the display will not be right beside other plasmas in your house, so if you are satisfied with how it looks, terrific! $999 is cheap way to get into a plasma specially if it is not your main home theater display. Check at Sams or Costco to see if you can view it in person. It is a discontinued model but there may be some still in the stores.

Here is 42 pages of info and opinions from owners if anyone wants to learn more about it before purchasing... http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...light=42pf7220
