and click on database log-in the loging screen open, I input the password and the user name and hit Enter:mad: but i get error message http 404 page can not be displayed...........
i try playing with all the setting on internet Explorer but no luck.. than i tried IE 7.0 beta and not luck.... then i installed FireFox and it works.
i`m able to log in with IE but using another PC ....

any idea anyone ?

silly as it may sound try clearing the cache and cookies if you havent done so yet

can you log into that computer with a different account? maybe its a profile issue. i mean its microsoft what do you expect :rofl:

what are the security settings on each of the pc's u tried using IE?

there are not ACC setup, but i`ll try Safemode and loging in ad the admin to see what happens...

and i do this for a living trust me i've seen worse. try like i said a different account maybe its a profile setting

Solution: Screw IE and use FF

make sure you do safemode with networking.

we've yet to hear what ur security settings are
between the 2 different pc's? are they the same?

Go to Tools/Internet Options, select Advanced, select Restore Defaults, click Ok.

Ok, next step is to try selecting the security tab and restoring defaults for each zone. I know you said they were the same but I found that IE updates sometimes screws them up.

:mad: :mad: nothing works, guess i`m goign to have to pull out the toolbox and get under the hood of this problem:mad:

are u using the same version of IE?
are both PC's using the same Service Pack?

ok try reinstalling IE (though installing version 7 beta should have done the trick) but to reinstall IE you need to modify the registry. Its just one of the things you can try. BTW I make house calls and if i cant solve the problem its free for you :) where on LI are you?

yeah same version of IE and SP2 running on XP home.



reinstalling IE is what i was thinking of doing when i get home, i will run System File Checker first and then Regedit to change the value of DWORD from 1 to 0 in the apropiate registry key.

just fyi in case you didnt know which dword to modify. you can actually still use IE even after you "uninstall" it. give that a try. btw did you try running in safe mode? what if you create a new user account on the machine i'm still not convinced and think it might be a profile issue.

finally got some time to day to work on this computer, after trying a few things the other days as and still the problem didn’t go away tonight I ran a SFC /SCANNOW before I start messing with the registry and uninstalling IE, after running SFC /SCANNOW (system file checker) I rebooted the pc and them I gave it a try and Bang the problem was gone:thumbup:

now i can go to bed with less problems in my head:)

anyway thanks to all those that chimed in with suggestions.
