Firefox is pretty simple it should ask you to use ot as your default browser when you install, then just ignore ie. Another browser to try is Maxthon - anyone out there using it? I find the tabbed browsing far better than Firefox and IE7.

just leave it alone and don't use it.

I'm using the Firefox browser right now and love it. It DEFINITELY loads pages faster then IE, and is extremely user friendly. I also really like the "tabbed" browsing. I always hated when IE would open up a new browser window every time I opened a new link etc... In addition, it is doing an extremely good job of eliminating pop ups!

As far as memory usage goes, it is using far fewer resources as well:

Prior:
iexplore.exe was using 49,428k

Now:
firefox.exe is using only 22,996k

One question, explorer.exe is still running in the background. Do I need it? If not, how can I shut it off?

Why go with Fox, Its a windows based computer would seem to be better to go/stay all windows?

explorer.exe is needed by the OS for running other apps that are part of the OS like "my computer" and "control panel" etc... leave it running.

If you like spyware, maliscious attackes, etc... feel free to stay all windows and use IE. You should give firefox a try though... less prone to attacks.
