Nice response.

Aren't leaders of governments suppose to be adult and not respond with queer comments like 'anybody asking for a timetable in Iraq should back off'?

Excuse me but it's OUR money and OUR troops over there Rumsfeld...not your personal little Army......

Man that guy pisses me off.

The first thing Bush needs to do is fire him or at least side line him.

I would get Powell back on a consulting basis and have him run the war.

I suppose it depends on whether or not you agree with the idea that setting a timetable emboldens the enemy to just wait it out a while...

How many times does Rummy have to state it before people stop asking for a timetable?

Wagner 10-27-2006 10:50 AM

It's not the meaning of the response that is an issue to me, its the phrasing. He can't come up with something for poetic then "back off"??

I swear watching Tony Blair speak next to any member of the US Administration is like watching Kennedy debate Nixon.

I agree. Even if there should not be a timetable, "back off" is arrogant.

In that position, you should absolutely expect to be asked that question every time you step out there.

A response like that certainly does not build support for the war at home.

The same exact ground result as we currently have, but delivered by a leader who most people didn't think was a prick, would be wonders for support. But, you have a porcupine be the guy at the microphone, and, like or not, support wanes.

Get Tony Robbins out there and you'd get a much better result.

Exactly.... my first instinct to a comment like "back off" is F You. Total arrogance and poor choice of words on Rumsfeld's part... and also very defensive realizing that people are getting pissed that there have been no exit strategies or remote ideas of when things will "get better" and troops can come home. Not a way to win support at all.

Or you'd have a bunch of brainwashed mindless zombies.

ROFL Tony Robbins!

My problem with this and numerous other threads is they are about the same subject Bush and the War.

You have your point of view others have a different point of view; its America and people are entitled to express themselves. However this like beating a dead horse, generally nothing new just the same opinions by the same people lets move on.
