Hey hey! Things are very good. The 993 isn't in the garage... I'm driving it today! I've put 6,000 miles on it this season, so it's seeing a lot of use. I'm still toying with flipping it out for a Superformance Cobra, but my wife wants me to keep it.

That's the 48hp Yanmar Diesel for powering the prop. It's fully vented (when covered or uncovered), but there are CO detectors on the boat. There should be no exhaust issues. I love the location. Usually the engine is under the stairs and impossible to access. This one is right there in the middle.

We'd like to start the trip in April, weather permitting. It takes 8 full days to get from Annapolis to Albany, and then 2-3 more to get up the Champlain canal (depending on lock schedules). The locks open on May 1st and our slip in Champlain is being paid for starting May 1, so I don't want to pay for two slips (Annapolis and Champlain) at the same time if I don't have to. On the other hand.. it could be freezing cold and snowing still in April, so we'll see. We're really looking forward to the trip, except for the trip down the Delaware River. It's really shallow and has a small channel with lots of very large shipping vessels. If the wind kicks up, 7-10 foot waves are not unusual, and I'm just not into 7-10 foot short period waves.

Things are going pretty well - they could always be better. Then I could afford even bigger toys :)

The reason for this boat, and the reason we'll be moving up to an even bigger one in two years, is to support our goal to do a one to two year cruise along the east coast of the US starting at the end of June in '09.

By the way, I'll be heading your direction next week... I'll be flying in to ORD on Wednesday early afternoon for an event in Deerfield Wednesday evening through Friday, and then flying out Friday night.

Nice boat, man. I usually sail a 14' Barnett on short day trips in the summer...just a small cheap boat that I can bring friends on...
But that is a serious boat youve got there...a real beauty! :D
