Just to follow my point, the following are countries in which the United States interfered to overthrow or give material support to the overthrow of a democratically elected liberal/socialist government in favor of a dictatorship. Some of these governments were not even that socialist. These new dictatorships were some of the most repressive of the 20th Century.

1) Nicaragua (1909)
2) Honduras (1911)
3) Iran (1953)
4) Guatemala (1954)
5) Congo (1960)
6) Ecuador (1961)
7) Dominican Republic (1963)
8) Brazil (1964)
9) Chile (1973)

And of course there were unsuccessful attempts to do the same in Vietnam and Venezuela.

My hope is that our government can find a happy medium and take care of both partys issues. I do fear that if we abandon Iraq we will see many more deaths from terrorist activities here in our own country than we ever will over there. And those deaths would not be trained soldiers who signed up for the task knowing the risks but plain citizens. Might even be you, or me :yikes: .

Definitely not, of course. had the election results been any different, the world would have assumed that either A: Democracy Didn't Work (i.e. something fishy went on with the vote count), or B: it would have meant that the majority of Americans were satisfied with the way their Government was ruining (oops, meant to say running..) the show; which definitely would have placed a bigger dent in the world-popularity department... "nuff said..";)

So there it is. Those are the major changes that are coming ASAP.
