Thanks for your help.

A dealer who isn't pushing for the sale today? Might be a good place to do business.

Sounds like an honest John Deere dealer Peter. I also sent you a PM on which parts you should consider for the X300 Series Tractor that will significantly improve your ability to pick-up leaves in the fall as well as have a great looking lawn when you mow.

Best of luck!!

A little late to this thread but I will throw in my 2 cents real fast.
Went through 2 MTD's mowing 2 1/2 acres over 5 year period. Purchased a JD GX345 for around 8K to replace them. Well worth every penny....

Good luck with your Deere!

I am looking for a tractor too, and was going to recommend the x300, I am leaning toward the 500 series. I like the 4ws too, so I am torn between the x324 and the x534 now. I have a new lot and I ned to till the enitre lot and put grass etc, then I will be tilling a section for a garden each year, so I am still trying to see if getting into the 500(garden tractor) is worth it for me, but good choice from what I have seen.

Both seem like good picks, imho. A 3 series :p works for me, since I don't plan to till, etc. I use for mowing and fall cleanup (lots of leaves, especially from very tall oaks, which unload lots of thick leaves!)

A 5'er might be a good pick for your needs. Did you use the online product selector on the JD website? You plug in your lawn size, conditions, jobs you expect to do with the tractor. It then pulls out some recommendations for you.
