Anyone recommend lawn tractors?

Does BMW make a lawn tractor ?:p

My Craftsman lawn tractor just bit the dust. 8 year-old tractor, not worth the price to repair anymore. I'm looking for something primarily for mowing (3/4 acre of lawn), as well as something I can use for fall cleanup (mulching up the leaves and such). Any brands/models recommended by the homeowners on the board? I've not had the best of luck with the Craftsman.

As a side note, i've had trouble with field mice in the shed where my tractor goes. Bastards probably ruined my last tractor. Hard to keep those guys out. Any thoughts on that? I hate to buy a nice new tractor to have them nest in it again and chew the wires.

The Home Depot models are lower quality and I would pay a little more for the better service you will get from from a local dealer

I had seen John Deere's at Home Depot and was assuming they were rebadged Toros or something. Probably not the same as a real JD.

get a JD. They are the best and last forever. I have one and they are also extremely easy to work on. I love it.

Rat poison

I have my tractor in my garage and dont have problems. But I would imagine a shed would have serious rodent problems especially in winter. I would get a couple traps and some poison and check it once a week. If that doesnt work get an exterminator. I got a guy that does one of my business regularly. Its only 84.00 dollars and he does the entire building. Might be worth the money. Those little suckers can ruin cars and tractors. They can get in anything
