Been there, but fortunately, have NOT done that - jets use ejection seats and they have "envelopes" in which they will give a high rate of mortality, but no guarrantee from injury - recommended speed is below 250knots and an ejection seat gets you away from the aircraft
the rear tail wing/motor will most likely get you bailing out a side door - DB Cooper had it right with a plane with a rear tail door
the shock of the parachute opening will break bones in the elderly(heartattack?), yank babies from their mother's arms - the landing will maim, injure, and kill more, especially if landing in trees or water - the panic to get harnessed up and get out the door really would make it unlikely more than 10-20% would actually get out of the plane(so who lives and who dies?)
Jets have the glide ratio of a rock(not much time to do everything), you only can hope that they can dump most of the fuel and a well equiped(firefighting) airport is nearby
Actually those turbo-prop "puddle jumpers" are the best for survival - nice straight wing for long glide paths(more time = more options) and slower landing speeds
And weight IS a BIG factor
