Ghetto wall mounting solutions?

So this damn plasma has been sitting in awkward positions since I bought it two years ago...Its time for it to go up. Ive been looking at all these sweet wall set-ups where no wires are visible, but it seems like that would be a LOT of work. The wall mounting part is not a problem, just the wire placement. Does anyone have a somewhat easy and neat solution for this? :dunno: Cheers for any info....

Most plasma mounts I have seen are very easy to install. Mine took about 30 minutes and you could probably hang your body weight from it.

Do you have an AC outlet below the panel? This product is a quick and easy way to get AC up to the panel as well as your AV wiring: http://www.panamax.com/products.cfm?...il&id=221&ly=h There are several versions of that one, and other brands too.

Damn...Thanks! However, I should have asked this question years ago.. That would have been perfect, but I dont want to have to knock a wall down or something to route wires like in the pic..

I dont think I have a choice concerning running the power and component wires outside of the wall, so basically I'm just looking for the best way to "hide" them. What are those white skinny boxes that run along the walls in offices to hide telephone wires and stuff? If they came in different sizes, that might work...

You can buy conduit that is very flat against the wall, and paintable if you wish, to hide the wires on the outside of the wall. Here is some with channels to separate wiring. http://www.hometech.com/techwire/wir....html#SB-WS12T

Installing the boxes like you show is just two cuts on the sheetrock, 5 minutes. Then you fish the wires through. Couldn't be any simpler.

No kidding, they are proud of that one. I think it is more like $225 online. However, it can be done for 80% less with a quick trip to Home Depot.

Even if you do decide to go with one of these boxes, you shouldn't have to knock a wall down to install it. You should be able to snake wires through the wall. That can be a challenge though if you're not experienced, but a decent electrician should be able to do that fairly quickly and easily. Personally, I'd invest in the electrician and a similar solution to those boxes before spending money on conduit - which isn't all that clean-looking either... GL!

I'd do it for a cold beer. Too bad you are across the pond!

I agree with Jay, if you don't want to fool with this just get an electrician to install an AC outlet behind the panel and install a 2" conduit in the wall that exits by your AV gear. I was quoted $250 for this work when I was considering it.

Then all you have to do it buy a good mount.
