I only read throught the iPhone thread quickly so I may not have my facts straight but isn't the battery on the iPhone non-replaceable as well?

$50 is expensive for a 60 led drop light. They do come in lesser or greater number of led's. BJO says he has a 10 led, and I've seen 30 and 75 led's advertised. Unfortunately, I don't have a good feel for the light output and whether I need a 30 or a 60. I guess I'll drop by my mechanic's shop to see if he has any on hand.

PNG - I know what you're saying about cordless vs. corded. I've bought so many cordless tools, I had to buy a 6 ft. long electrical strip mount on my garage wall just to keep my cordless tools charged. I have way too many cordless work tools. They need to build charging stations (or charging closets) in houses.

I never said the iPod battery swap was difficult, the procedure has been out there for years. However, there were issues with prior generations of bad batteries failing (probably a bad batch) before the warranty expired. Apple would not honor the remaining warranty on devices that were opened for unauthorized repairs. This was a well-known issue with an extensive writeup in Maximum PC magazine. The advice was go ahead and replace the battery if you aren't concerned about subsequent warranty issues.

This is similar to what I use most of the time. I find it more convenient when working under the car as I can aim it without using my hands. Works well for rooting around the engine bay as well as I find drop lights hanging off the hood can cause a lot of glare.
