Doc, that's hilarious!

Wpcmac 02-03-2007 08:37 PM

Hey Doc. - I just want to know what you charged him for the diagnosis...

RastaGurl 02-03-2007 08:50 PM

Pretty darn funny! And with the way reimbursement is going, I'll bet good money that your ER won't get paid for that visit!

Not nearly enough. I couldn't find the proper code for "stupid nuisance".

wonder who paid for that service??

That EMS call and transportation to hospital probably cost 2-3 bills. I really wonder who paid for that.

If he didn't have insurance, the answer is "nobody". Or, if you think of it another way, "everybody", because the paying customers have to be charged more to cover that loss. Just like a store has to increase prices slightly to cover shoplifting losses.

StatDoc,
But, I'm glad you and your ER Doc Gang are there...

I've only been to the ER thrice in my 59.25 years, but
all three times I was taken very well care of, and in
good time: breaking a plastic contact lens in my eye,
bacterial pneumonia and, trying to cut off the tip of my
right index finger.

The bac pneumonia almost killed me, and the eye
and finger were scary shit, but the ER Docs did
me well.

I brought a very good blt of '85 bordeaux and
'90 alsace riesling to the ER doc that saved my
finger a couple years ago.

I hope my next/last trip to the ER is a prelim for my
ride off to Valhalla, about 20+ years from now!

I somewhat realize the labyrinth and bureacracy of
the ER/med system, but ya'll doing a helluva job, imo.

Oh boy. That must be someting. You know, when I was in Grad Schol, I was unsure of what to become, but I eventually choose surgery. Thing is, there is always somethign interesting I hear about people down in the ER. :)

:yikes:

Idiot woke up in his house trailer, with no heat on. Winter temp ~35 F outside (and probably close to that inside). He called EMS because he was shivering. They arrived, and told him to turn on the heater and put on some clothes. He did so, and felt better. Duh. He still insisted on being brought, BY AMBULANCE, to the hospital for the doctor to check him out.

My exam and discussion with him lasted less than 60 seconds. Most of that was me wondering if I would ever see the likes of a fool like this again.
