A personal milestone in my career
As some of you may already know, I am an emergency physician. I have seen just about everything stupid or mean that individuals can do to themselves or others. However, tonight was a personal milestone for me. I had the single most ridiculous presenting complaint ever.
"I'm cold." :yikes: Idiot woke up in his house trailer, with no heat on. Winter temp ~35 F outside (and probably close to that inside). He called EMS because he was shivering. They arrived, and told him to turn on the heater and put on some clothes. He did so, and felt better. Duh. He still insisted on being brought, BY AMBULANCE, to the hospital for the doctor to check him out. My exam and discussion with him lasted less than 60 seconds. Most of that was me wondering if I would ever see the likes of a fool like this again. |
My personeal favorites, since I am on the other end of the spectrum by picking them up, is when they wait to call at 2 or 3 in the morning. When you get there and examine them they inform you that they have been feeling that way for 3 or 4 days.
Why wait and call at 3 in the bloody morning then!!! In any case, it's amazing what some folks will call the FD and EMS folks for, but doc, yours is hilarious. |
Got to love it.

There must be a direct correlation between living in a trailer and a loss of sanity.

Hey...one of my best friends lived in a trailer park till he was 18. :)
But...for the most part...you're correct :) haha. |
Sounds like loneliness, how old was the guy?
|
did he turn on the heat when he got back?

Your right, that one takes the cake.

I think he wants to be in the hospital to feel the heat and warm up!
