Costco changes return policy for electronics

Well, thanks to the sleazebags who would return a camera every time a new model came out, costco has changed it's return policy to 90 days on electronics.

No kidding, and I just bought a 50" Panny plasma there 3 weeks ago. I have to call and see if I'm "grandfathered" in.

well. it was bound to happen sooner or later, right? nonetheless, i'm proud to say that i never "took advantage" of the system in an unjust fashion.

Are you one of those "who took advantage of the system"?

No, are you? Why would you assume that?

If the TV breaks at day 366 and the factory warranty is over, you bet i'm going to return it because it's broken. That's why Costco had the return policy.

The "sleazebags" I referred to are the people who would buy a Canon SD550 and return it 6 months later because the SD600 came out and they wanted an upgrade. If you read any photography forums like dpreview.com, there are too many people on there who see absolutely nothing morally wrong with returning something that isn't broken.

how long was it before? 6 month?

and can't you still get costco cash for your returns after the 90 days?

That was one of the advantages of buying electronics at costco ... not to "take advantage of the system", but having better warranty coverage and customer service than the manufacturer

Ron if you got the plas before the effective date of the return policy change, then you should be grandfathered in? Otherwise, the purchases members made 4 months ago are now "not returnable and out of costco warranty" :(
