I worked for a company once that had to lay off a bunch of people. They spared this one lady who happened to be organizing the company Christmas party. They laid her off the day after the Christmas party. That's cold.

Below 20F is cold.

I live 8 miles from Lake Superior and it's really what you get used to. For me I'd consider it being too cold if it gets colder than 30 below zero. We had at least 15 mornings that were in the 25 below range last month but you can still do anything you want outside in that temperature.

Minus 30 C is getting cold.

Minus 40 C is cold.

Colder than that, you have to work to get by. -52 in Whitehorse was very cold.

I just thought about another experience of being cold.

Swimming in the ocean with 3C air temperature and 4 C water temperature (40F) is cold. It was a Polar Bear swim on New Year's Day.
