I know I'll get flamed for this...
...but Dodge just shipped the '06 Charger to dealerships and I got on the list for an SRT8 this afternoon. If I can make one excuse, I'm too tall and wide to fit into an M3 :o otherwise, I'd love to have one. Oh, and I'm diseased because anything that says Charger on the side that's packin' 8 cylinders is my weakness.
The Pentastar marketing team devised a nice video for the launch: http://www.dodge.com/charger/home_st...aunch&rid=%20# JV |

Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't Dodge Chargers have two doors? :D |
Here's some direct links to the videos -

You're absolutely right though, MoparManiacs are livid about it having 4 doors. But it does have a 4 wheel independent suspension (new Mustang is still sitting on a live axle) and GPS Nav is an option. There's rumor of a Charger coupe, but Dodge is mum on it. I still have the '69 in the shed and that'll satisfy my fix for the classic coke-bottle 2 door. Soon as I get hold of an engine, K-Member and transmission for it. Gracias, Jeff, for posting the direct links  JV |

...Say it ain't so...what's with the AUTO only option?? Now the SRT8 does look like a beast but come on...looks like a trimmed up Magnum. But you'll enjoy it I'm sure. Myself, I would have gone for the upcoming Cobra Mustang or a new Vette. |
JV,
Good luck on your next set of wheels, hope they don't disappoint you. FYI.. I was really impressed when I saw the specs and photos and commercials for the new Mustang. Then my bro came to visit and rented one. What a POS... It was nice from the outside but was put together inside like a plastic AC DELCO disposable razor. - I hope you have a much much better experience with your Dodge. I looked at a RAM at one point, can't say I fell in love with it. I do understand the size issue, I'm a big guy myself. But something about contemporary American muscle that leaves me very unsatisfied (save for the new zo6) I would even be hesitant to drive off in a Ford GT at this point. After being in the Mustang, it has killed any taste I had left for that company. B |
JV--
awesome! when i get to VA we'll have to MOPAR her up more! |

The interior materials didn't feel or look too bad, and there's some brushed aluminum on the SRT and Daytona to break up all that black plastic, thank God. I'm a sucker for that flat torque curve on the Hemi and the rumble of those 3.5" pipes, I can't help it. It'd sure be nice to have an extra 75G's to get a C6 Z06 :( I'd never get rid of my X5, though, love it too damn much. JV |
JV: Here's another link w/lotsa Charger info.
Did a cursory read, but they avoid mentioning car Weight and, of course, mpg. I realize no one is buying this car, at any trim&motor level for an econ. car, but I suspect the weight and real world stop&go mpg will be a bit of a damper for Mr&MrsMidAmerica when they go shopping for that "4 dr sports car." Jes'my 2cts. I remember fondly, the Chargers of the late '60s. They, like most big block Mopars, were Very hard to get by on the ol'Woodward Ave. BR,md http://www.allpar.com/cars/lx/dodge-charger.html |
JV,
As much as I would like to see you get that preowned M5.. Doesn't make much sense you having an X5 and all. Are you really that big that your not comfortable in an M3?? I am 5'11 215lbs. and I sit quite comfortably in my Pcar.. Give it another chance.. Especially if it's not your daily driver ! B |
