Doesn't make sense, but what does?

Check your history: blacks got to vote, on occasion,
in about a dozen places, post 1866, and for a long
time after. The Civil Rights Act was a marvelous piece
of legislation that had little to no effect in most parts of the US,
(Tenn was just being readmitted under Reconstruction), and if one
had a beef about not "being treated equal", it usually fell
on deaf ears or by a gunning sheriff or, a lynch mob.

It was, and still is, the basis for equal protection under the law,
discrimination, etc.

Do some homework on Right to Vote, state by state, etc.

Yes, Women were treated as chattel then...

Hope I helped on your homework, lol!

:iagree:

As with many other laws, having the law on the books is not enough. They must enforce the law too.

I read that yesterday, can't say I agree with those "statistics" in certain situations.

The whole de-segregated prom thread a while back was a far more 'obvious' abuse.

Are you surprised? It's the south, I knew I was in for a surpise when I visited northern Florida and GA but I was still shocked, it's a complete 180 of the more developed states, it is quite a culture shock!

Hey QS, while the issue of racial police stops are a serious issue that needs to be addressed and corrected, I couldn't help but think of this segment from Chris Rock. Yes, I know we've all seen it, but it still makes me laugh my ass of..

Best,
B
