Gas Boycott Tomorrow?

All this news about a national boycott of gas tomorrow and wondering if anyone is on board. I'm in but thats just becuase I filled up today in the burbs @ $3.59 for 93. It's $4.15 in the city.

I dont really think the boycott will have any impact on future prices just curious as to who is doing this.

This whole this began as a chain letter years ago (1999) and has no merrit at all. http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/nogas.asp Chain letters should be ignored.

Everyone has heard of these in the past and yes they were started as chain letters but it was getting attention on the Chicago news tonight which leads me to believe it's bigger than just a chain letter.

And from CBS2 in Chicago http://cbs2chicago.com/topstories/lo...125213025.html It's a waste of time.

I figured I'd highlight my original post for you so you don't contuine you to try to convince someone whose thoughts already parallel your own on this subject.

Then you asked "wondering if anyone is on board.? I gave my opinion based on the facts so i don't need to convince anyone about anything so go for it.

If its on the nightly news, how is it not bigger than a chain letter? I cant recall a time when I have seen chain letter topic on the news. So yes I believe that the "Fact" it made the news makes it bigger than a chain letter or some email spam.

Again, see first post where I said I didn't think it would work.

Here's what your own Chicago news stated"

Chances are the plan is more fantasy than feasible. Variations of the gas boycott e-mail have circulated annually since 1999, according to rumor-debunking Web site snopes.com.

But with Will County's gas prices hovering around $3 a gallon -- 21 cents higher compared to last year, according to AAA-Chicago Motor Club -- hope for some control springs eternal.

"I think in theory it may have some effect. But in reality or practice it would have little or no effect at all," said Jason Toews, co-founder of gasbuddy.com, a gas price-tracking site that allows visitors to post and compare local gas prices.

Fact is some radio or TV news station somewhere resurrects this story every year. And every year it goes no where. Thats all i was saying.

People can do whatever they want but when a story hits the news it means we should pay close attention to the content. In this case the content states that the idea came from a chain letter and in reality or practice it would have little or no effect at all," said Jason Toews, co-founder of gasbuddy.com ;)

1) That last question was rhetorical and in no way needed an answer.

2) I am continually baffled by your reaction to this post. To say the least 90% of the posts which I have seen of yours have been contradictory to the original poster or someone who has posted an opinion on the topic. Could it be that you found nothing to disagree with in my post being that I clearly started I didn’t think it would work? But magically you still find someway to play the devils advocate.

3) I'm glad you found so many articles and quotes to support my earlier suspicions.

4) You don't need to comment on every post. I'd look into something similar to AA for message boards which might be able to help you contain your urge to post.
