Deut: 21: 18-21 Although a closer looks shows that such arrangement evidently had reference to a son beyond the age of what is usually considered a young child, for the son in this scriptures is described as “a glutton and a drunkard.”

With that literal interpretation & practice I doubt many of us would be here reading this board...

If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey his father and mother, who does not heed them when they discipline him, 19then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his town at the gate of that place. 20They shall say to the elders of his town, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.’ 21Then all the men of the town shall stone him to death. So you shall purge the evil from your midst; and all Israel will hear, and be afraid.

Actually it was the practice in Isreal and the reason why they had little or no Juvenile delinquency. It was reserved for the unrecoverable evil person.

Actually it is a rather unknown fact that in the 60's that particular passage was mistranslated and understood as "your son will be stoned".
