Audi Q7 4.2tdi - I need your opinions or experiences

Here’s the deal guys. I am planning to get rid of my X around summer 08. I was planning to get an E70 with the aero package and 4.8 exhaust, 7 seats, etc. The most powerful E70 is the 4.8 which is fine but after getting the X3 3.0sd for the wife, I’m like wow, these diesels really kick a$$. Great torque, great acceleration and great fuel consumption.
Now, If I go for the E70 with the sd engine, I could tune that baby to about 700nm and 340hp but I’m not sure that’s enough … or is it? I don’t know.

Now my other choice is to get a Q7 4.2tdi with the ABT package that makes it look a lot nicer. I can tune this puppy to about 400hp without any hassle and the performance should be quite impressive.

The problem is, I’ve never owned an Audi, I LOVE my X5 and the whole BMW experience but I think I want more performance that the E70 can offer me. I also know I want a fast SUV type car, 4 wheel drive and 7 seats.

What are your thoughts and/or experiences?

Regards,

i like the q7 as well, it looks bigger than the e70, true?

I drove the Q7 and it felt distant to drive - even though I was hurtling along the backroads of Lexington. The interior is too cluttered, is is one big bloody SUV with a large drag coefficient, and it is meant for an extended family. I'd rather buy the RR before purchasing the Q7.
So far, Ive really enjoyed the E70, pleasure to drive with fantastic handling but with the ability to act like a 2 year old Thoroughbred now and then.

Cheers,

It's a Distant Cuz of my Treg, I test drove it, the Caynne and the Treg before deciding on the Treg, I thought the Q7 was WAY to big, WAY to long and the interior is VERY cluttered, I can't stand the MMI in it and it's less equipped then the Treg and leases out horrible, My Least Favorite Feature? That bloody pano-roof that has a canvas cover and still let's sunlight in, how dumb is that!

Yes, its longer, wider and higher. I think the ABT kit fixes the look especially from the rear.

I'm still waiting for a test drive. I only want to test drive the 4.2tdi which kinda out performs the E70. Thats why I'm considering it. The size of the Q7 doesn't scare me, I have 3 daughters, hence the 3rd row.
RR is totally out of the question for me - Terrible service reputation over here. I've heard too many horror stories to even consider getting one.

If onlt the E70 had a more powerful motor:rolleyes:

As mentioned above, I'm ok with the size. What do you mean less equiped than the treg:confused: Leases here do not depend on the make of the car but the leasing company you use, so no worries with that.

I am a bit nervous about the interior being too cluttered bacause that comment has come up twice.

no, if you used to drive BMW for a long time i sugest you keep going, the E70 is a fantastic car besides you have to think about selling the car after a while cauz Audi is less price market for used cars.
by the way, when you want to sell your X5 please let me know.

The Comparable Audi Is about 10K USD More, Listed Below
Power Tailgate (Option pkg) STD On Treg
Park Distance Control (Option Pkg) Std on Treg
Cricket Leather (Lux2 on Treg) 1000.00 on Audi Premium
Sirius Radio (Option Pkg) STD on Treg

I built a 3.6 Quatto Q7, and it came in at 52k with a 3.6 Premium
For me it's this way: Same exact engine, drive train, electronics etc, Why Should I spend 10k more for an Audi Name?
