My Weekly 'Puter Wonderment...
 

Lately, as in the past couple weeks, I occasionally & regularly get a funny pop up
box when I x out
a window or site I was looking at:

It's a rectangular box that reads, for example:
Iexplore.exe - Application error the instruction at "0X029938ae" referenced memory at "0X02bc6ta8"
This memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate program Click Cancel to debug the program.

Sometimes the box says similar to above, but :
"CwndSessionMonitor" and a different set of "numbers" show up...rest of note is the same.

I get it when closing out a window of a site, from Outlook Express, and I also get it when
closing out
a window/site that I got from IE and the net.

Not wringing my hands, but it is increasing in frequency occurrence...I've changed nothing here,
that comes to mind. Other than this new glitch, my 'puter is haulingazz and seemingly running fine.
I do the usual spyware, anti-virus, clear cache, clear cookies, defrag, etc., etc., on a regular basis.

Any ideas/comments are welcome.

LM, IE6...thanks for that link; I had done some perusing on the net
about this recent quirk of mine, and read many of the same kinds of
situs, and not many real answers or fixes, lol!

I suspect it's like asking "what is this weird noise that my X5 makes?" lol!

I will pass on the usual get a Mac suggestions...when this box, or the one
we have back at the Mtn house wears out, I may look at Mac then. But,
I'm not gonna toss this and buy a Mac just to have a Mac.

Try Firefox. In my opinion, it's more reliable and more user friendly for non-computer geeks. My dad sticks with IE, but he's a Systems Analyst, so go figure.

1) Defrag your hard disk (app is under system tools)
2) then reboot

I will defrag, though I do that about once per week/every 10 days.
It has been popping up for a few weeks during which time I have
defragged...
By reboot, do you mean "restart" or turn off completely and then
start "over"?

The standard Ms Windows message is 'restart Windows, reboot is the same thing.
