Ouch...gas price highest I've seen here

Well, it finally happened! Our local Chevron station (the one I almost always use) listed Premium Gas/Petrol at $4.02 per gallon!

For the last 2-3 weeks, it's been fluctuating between $3.91 and $3.97...but this morning a whopping $4.02/gallon.

But compared to Canada, Germany, UK, Australia, Norway ($8.00/gallon) we shouldn't bitch...but what makes me mad, is that in other countries with high fuel costs, the taxes on gas goes to public works/schools/healthcare...not in Fat Bastard's pocket.

On a positive note, maybe this will make American's realize they don't need a Surburban, Excursion or Hemi to go to Ralph's/Kroeger or the Piggly Wiggly! It will hurt families though on a very tight budget. Kinda does suck all the way around...unless you're a CEO/CFO for an oil company :chair:

oh, mate

ur so lucky to hv such cheap fuel price in US when compared with us in Hong Kong
let u know our fuel price to have a full tank is almost DOUBLE yours.

yes, it is no need to such big monster under this high fuel price ... but BMW or MB are still producing cars with big stomach in order to have a bigger power to compete each others .......so poor we are before they launch any eco + fuel efficiency system in their cars 6 yrs later ....huh

Mate, we need to have a good job with high salary scheme to feed BMW or MB for these years, just keep patience!!

Well UK Petrol/Desiel is running at about $8.30 - $8.80 for a US gallon (assuming my sums are correct). and thats rising on a regular basis at the moment. Add to that cars cost double in Europe yet I guess European wages, well the UK anyway are not double that of the US. Im supprised were not all on push bikes over here!

Interesting, prices on the east coast are falling..slightly. We were around $3.50 now down to $3.45.

As for those across the pond, let me know when your prices double in less then 3 years...so when you're paying a USD $16.00 a gallon..then you can complain :) Until then, why do you need a car anyway..you have mass transit and your country is the size of a US state  j/k

I'm not sure that's a good argument when the BMW X5 and X6 are not the most fuel efficient vehicles. If you want to save on fuel and have the cargo capacity, the BMW 5 estate is the way to go, IMO. But, most Americans cringe when the hear the words "Wagon, Estate, or Avant" - too bad.

Also, diesel fuel in america used to be cheaper than regular unleaded but now it's more expensive than premium unleaded (at least where I live)! So, you might be getting better fuel economy with a diesel vehicle, but you're paying more for it at the pump (when compared to premium unleaded).

Used corley services on the M6 this morning and....wait for it.....wait for it...

£1.19.9 a litre! thats £5.44 a gallon!

i know our uk gallons are different to the us ones so...

doing some simple math means it would be $8,98 per gallon over there...

i know u guys and gals have a lower cost of living but theres no way its that much lower

excuse me while i just nip to the loo and throw up .... i think i speak for most of the uk when i say its begining to become a joke on top of the road tax, showroom tax and value added tax etc..

i see fuel tax discussions in most forums i go into these days!

well on average the price here is the UK 106.60P for just normal unleaded.

106.60ppl
x
4.546
= £4.85 imperial
x
1.20 us gallon
=
£5.82
x
2.01 average exchange rate for March 2008
=$11.70 per us gallon and thats normal unleaded.

Diesel works out at $12.70 per us gallon.

Well gas in the UK has gone up by 25% in 1 year and as a 25% increase on $6.75 is the same monetary increase you have seen in 3 years then yes we have more to complain about! Mass transit? That’s a joke, if you can get the public transport in the UK it’s usually overcrowded and for me in a rural area almost non existent. Anyway they day will come when oil reserves all dry up and then the world economy’s will be a very different story.
