I think we should build a few key bases/forts with big walls and let them have at each other. When the population is reduced by about 50% we move back in and let democracy rule.

Hey LabGuy,
I never called them "clones", nor did I suggest Dubya & McCain were
even "the same"...I was simply pointing out that Bush had to say
something "semi-poz" when Rummy went out to lobby/write memoirs...

McCain, at the time, was caught up in his "maybe the war isn't going
like it could/should" mode and, as a Senator, even on the Rep side,
he could join the pile on, search for the "guilty" and make those
remarks.

Methinks you are overly agitated from too many politico "news"
sound bites and arm wrestles...little of this current crap is going
to change or, make the country/world a "better place", imo.

While you are on the bandwagon,
what is, in your opin, "the objective" of the war in Iraq?

The objective was to men on the ground next to all the terrorists, how many of the 9-11 crew came from Saudi Arabia?

We just got bogged down in a peace keeping mission with groups that have been killing each other since the begging of time.

We need to rethink our plan.

Hey hey, I want to say mine :)

Objective: to makes sure Arab states knew that we would invade them if we felt it necessary. Given the 8 years of Clinton running like a scared little girl, Bushy..or more so Cheney, thought we had to have a strong showing. And, we did. However, we decided it would be cooler to get to Baghdad then to secure the outlining towns...hence what you have today.

Our real "collective war question" should be WTF is going on in Afghanistan????

Most of what you say is true.

However we are now stuck in a peace keeping mission with no easy way out.

Wagner 05-21-2008 07:18 PM

everything I said was true as it is IMO.

Usually in a PK mission you don't routinely blow things up.

E61Silver 05-21-2008 07:25 PM

Like I said we should build a few bases/forts stand back and let them settle the civil war.

The sad thing is that no politician would have the balls to say or do it.

If we do pull out because of the continuing violence we've just sent a message to our enemies that the US will back down from a fight if they follow the strategy of civil unrest, IED's and terrorism. Just think of all the opportunity's we had to back out of WWII when things got ugly.

1. What are our objectives?
2. Let's send a message that if you commit a crime here on US soil, we will find you in any crevice of this earth that you are and hunt you down (they haven't found Bin Laden yet have they?)
There was a real reason to be there! Am I missing something about Iraq? Was Saddam Hitler? Was Saddam killed 2 yrs ago? Didn't we originally go there because they were "harbouring terrorist."

Find Bin Laden who orchestrated the terrorist activities. He was in Afghanastan. Get the guy that killed thousands of Americans on American soil. That made the effects of the attacks linger on still. Americans should be outraged that THAT isn't the real goal.

The rest of the world won't say "oh they backed down from a fight" - more civilians have been killed during this war than when Saddam was in command - so don't come back with "Saddam was opressing his people." There's opression all over the world.. No troops are being sent there to "save the people from their own Government."

Why am I typing, you probably voted for Bush in his second term, on the basis of "we can't change presidents in the middle of a war." LOL.
