Good one on the Chevy badge. To a point I agree, but the heritage of the Vette takes it up a notch in my book. Plus it is American and if all other things were equal, then it is an easier choice. I would personally take an M3 over either and be the happiest person on the road even though I wouldn't be quite the fastest. :D |
I no I am getting old, put to me speed in a car has its limits, my X5 has all the power I will ever need.
Unless you are taking it to the track 0-60 in one second more or less means nothing. I would buy the car for package of ride handling and looks. |

I'd take the GT-R over the Vette for the same reason I'd take the M3 over the Vette. |
so in the end...there is no replacement for displacement

Actually the z06 and the viper get better hwy mpg versus the gtr....besides in order to increase hp it is pretty simple either increase displacement or force induction... The supercharger design of the zr1 is very efficient..The four-lobe design and extra rotation increases thermal efficiency and has nearly the same power efficiency as a turbocharger...
The gtr in the real world has fallen short of expectations both at one lap of america and this months car and driver Early on reports are discovering the strengths and weakness of this Nissan. At the one lap of America it came in 11th behind stock z06s and viper On tight courses it pushes like a pig. On wide high speed sweepers it really hustles along. The launch mode was useless at the drag strip, as it would not allow the car to creep into the lights to stage, so real world experience had it bogging badly off the marks. The lack of a manual transmission kept the driver from really controlling the car. The driver of the one lap did mention that it cruised very comfortably between events, and had a pretty large trunk... anybody see a trend here. I will be curious to see how easily you will be able to mod a GTR. It has a ton of electronics on it (literally… LOL). With a Viper you are almost limitless on how much power you can get out of one... I think the GTR will be pretty much pegged once it rolls off the line, or it will cost a fortune to increase the power… but I guess we will have to see. zr1 wins by a looooooooong shot in my book [IMG]http://gallery.viperclub.org/data/500/gtr.jpg[/IMG] _________ |

in bold, and using less technology. I guess it comes down to what you consider "better" in this case, OT was discussing lap speeds, in which the Vette won...so better by this measure..was displacement. |

There's no Bowtie anywher on a vette.... it only has the crossed flags emblem on the nose and corvette on the tail. it does now have small silver GM chicklets on both sides in front of the rear wheels, but most if not all owners remove them with fishing line. So, in conclusion, your fears of the bowtie are not a problem :) :) |
