How to securely dispose old documents?

I have a few shoeboxes filled with old credit card statements, vehicle insurance and maintenance records, and other stuff I don't want anybody to be sifting through. What are the easy and comfortable ways to get rid of these documents? Burning them in a grill or fireplace are not considered as options :)

I shred everything, even junk mail.

You will need three thing:

1. Gas
2. Match
3. Open Field

What I do, at least with old credit cards, is cut them up, and flush some of the pieces containing numbers down the toilet, the rest in the trash... havent had a problem yet (not even with the plumbing)

get a cross cut shredder or you could just eat them.

We toss ours in the trash...I figure if someone recovers them, they will spend less than we do.

And, since we had our entire ID stolen a couple years ago, what's another
hit...

I liked the "just eat them" suggestion.

:jk: ...though we did have our entire ID ripped.
