Theres a X5 going through the dealer auction tomorrow....are the 04's more reliable then the 01's?

Maybe consider the Volvo XC90, Audi Q7 and the Cadillacs as well, but none will drive as good as the X5 except maybe the Porshe, but you will always have problems with high end vehicles when they get older. Why not just get a newer, lower mileage X5? Or maybe try the new X6...:D

Was reading infiniti suv's are just as fun to drive and more reliable....

also, is there any vehicles which heat up really fast? I find the heated seats take too long to heat up!

They're also vulgar and unrefined. One doesn't feel like he/she is driving a luxury car in a Nis-- I mean Infiniti.

A 2004-2006 X5 would be the safest X5 bet. The X3 is more reliable especially after the first model year but before the facelift. Otherwise, if you want a reliable appliance, just drive an American SUV like an Acura MDX and throw any thoughts of passion out the window.

Do 04 X5's have the same bolt pattern? If I get it from the auction, I won't get the tradein value and will have to sell my current x5, which will be tough. The closest BMW dealer offered me $10k-$12k for mine, i bought it was $19 last year!

All 04's will be out of warranty too. Sounds like an FX45 is right for you. They're a little duller, but almost as good in performance and more reliable.

Do they have adaptive style headlights?

It gets cold up here in winter so I really need the heated seats!
