It seems like Apple wants the first generation products to fail.

My first Ipod died and I went and got a second one with a protection plan.
The second one seems to be built better and has not failed.

I ended up bringing it to a place and had them replace the screen and digitizer. It cost me $130 but I calculated,

Cost of digitizer and glass from reputable company: $50
Tools needed to do the work, $10
Glue stick needed for screen, $8

Shipping, $8-$10

Then there is the risk of taking it apart myself, removing the glass from the digitizer, from the LCD.. I said screw it.. It's probably just quicker and cheaper to have someone who knows what their doing, fix it.

Just got it back, good as new.

:rolleyes: He said that the screen was "cracked". That means it was caused by accidental damage most likely.
