FWIW, in my research, there was ALOT of bedding enthusiasts the make their own bed. There are places online that sell various foams, and basically they end up making their own *foam bed* with a mix and martch of hard foams layers, and soft foam layers and or *zoned* areas in which certain parts of the body rested on a harder foam vs. softer....

I feel for you on this one. I don't have back issues myself but I work damm hard during the day enough that I know what good sleeping can bring.

Bought a natural latex and wool with organic cotton. (weighs 250#) Awesome. It was a little too firm, (on a platform) so I added a 3" natural (organic?) Latex pad. Sleep of the Gods. Just turn/fluff every 2-3 months. 15 yr warranty.

The natural latex is the key here. It behaves differently and lasts much longer than any manu. foam.

We had the same issue with a Simmons dual side pillow top. After about 3 years the bed killed my back and had huge valleys in it. The reseller admitted it was a common issue and they would send an inspector out but there was no way it had dropped 1.5" like the warranty required. We trashed it and bought a Tempurpedic... After having 3 back surgeries in recent years I was ready for a decent bed. It seems to have really helped as I feel much better in the mornings. I know there are varied opinions on these foam beds but it did the trick for us.

I was sick throwing out a $2K+ bed that wasn't even 5 years old but glad I did.
