Microsoft's new ad campaign goes recessionista chic

Macworld response? Predictable.....;)

Yahoo! News - Microsoft ad says that Macs are too cool for its customers by Macworld.com: Yahoo! Tech

Yeah, that is cool! My in-laws are in photography, so are all macced out...when I'm there I haven't a clue how their computers work! May be one day I'll get a Mac, but for now the PC is fine....

$700 for a Mac.. Then add another $100 or more for anti-virus. Then add another $500/year to have the cpu rebuilt after you get the blue screen of death.
Then add another $1000 a year for time wasted installing or trying to find new or usable drivers.
Then add another $5000 a year for the loss of productivity time if you use your computer for anything other than accounting or email, web surfing..

No thanks.. I was a PC person for many, many, many years and the quality and quantity of my work was worth every penny of MAC dollars.

So effectively, PC's are for people whose time is worth less..

Funny how this type of thread always turns into a "put-down" thread.....

My PC laptop has been problem free for 3 years, so I don't know what the big deal is.....

hpjunkie 03-27-2009 08:03 PM

yeah lauren 13" screen but reliability beyond compare compared to a PC. Crash, Reboot, Update, Refragment...all these things are history with mac.

Mac Fan here.

mac-->:stickpoke <--pc

Sorry, but this thread didn't turn into a "put down thread", it started as a "put down thread".. Stating of course that Mac's are overpriced and you can get better for less with a PC.

- Well, you can also save money at home by giving yourself a root canal.. But I don't hear anyone suggesting that would be recession chic..

Stewthebassman 03-27-2009 08:11 PM

Yeah, I guess you're right!

Different machines for different tasks, I'm no fanboy but ever since OSX came out, Macs are pretty slick machines as long as you know what you're doing (that's the key there) and with Parallels or VMware, can still run PC apps sometimes faster than on a PC.

I can't live without Outlook though so the best solution is to have a PC and Mac on my desk. I do hate the fact that Macs have become soooo trendy, it's just a fooking computer...

I used to use a PC but I found the light and haven't turned to the darkside ever since...:sw:

OP's post was appropriate but the thread went downhill pretty quickly...
