I had to switch from AT&T to Verizon when I moved into my neighborhood a few years back because AT&T was so bad in this area and I was an 8-year Cingular/AT&T customer.

Not an AT&T apologist; just stating my experience. I live in Charlotte -- no issues at all. In the past 2-3 years, I've been in SD, SF, Tampa, Miami, DC, NYC, Vegas, Houston, Birmingham, Raleigh, Vancouver, Juneau, just to name a few, and I can honestly say, I've never had any connection issues.

I've had several BBs, and my wife has the Storm. I like the Curve, but I'll keep my iPhone, thank you very much! :)

I would probably have one myself if AT&T had better reception in my area. It is the best gadget, IMO. I am not knocking the phone, just the service provider I would have to use. I have heard that there will be more choices in the future when their contract runs out with AT&T.

It is supposed to be much easier as far as hammering out text messages and e-mails compared to the touch screen Storm. I also heard the Storm is a little slow compared to other touch screens from Samsung. The iphone seems to be the best technology out there. Unfortunately it is only available through AT&T for the time being. Verizon is much better than AT&T in the Atlanta area. I stopped counting how many times the call has been dropped when my friends call from their iphones. The apps are great though, but too bad they don't have one where you can actually use it as a phone.

I think BB might becoming out with a new phone that will have the features of the Storm but also a dedicated key pad.

I just got a Blackberry Curve this week. Not planned, but it involved lots of water, a phone, and some anguish. :(

Anyway, I switched to a BB Curve, and it seems excellent so far. I am still trying to learn the BB OS, and get my programs and options set. It synched up via BT with my X5 faster and easier than any other phone I have ever had.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions regarding "must have's" or "must do's" with the Curve?

I had a BB for 5 months. It was replaced 4 times due to catastrophic hardware failure, would magically lose calls, would decide when to look for a signal, which since I was in a brick building, I had to go to the lobby and wait 5 minutes, and the texting made me cry. (You HAD to use two hands)
I've had an iPhone for 11 months, it was replaced once because I scratched it and went to the apple store and asked nicely. I have fine service everywhere but a remote beach that I stay at in FL, and send 14,000 texts a month with it, as well as run with it 7 miles a day.
The BB is GREAT with e-mail, its just quite obviously an e-mail device first, and a phone second.

Yes. Trade it in for an iPhone. :D

Seriously, though. The Curve is a nice smartphone. I'm on the iPhone camp, so I'll never buy one, but have seen it in action via friends.

Good luck.

If I was on ATT, I would have an iPhone, no question. However, I am on Sprint, and am actually happy with their service. :D
