A possible transaction issue with another member here... Please weigh in.

Hi all, I didn't want to have to do this, but I feel as though I am getting the short end of the stick. I bought a used Dice DSP adapter from another member here, sent PayPal cash right away, and the seller sent me a tracking number.

Seemed as if all was going well until I got the package and all that was inside were the wires and no adapter box! I went back and forth with the seller, and he swears up and down the box was inside. So I searched my house and no gray box is around (i thought maybe it fell out of the pack when I opened it).

I don't want to go pointing fingers, playing the dirty name game or making a fellow member here look bad. So I'll first ask for some input. I will also ask the other member to chime in with his side of the story. It seems he is well respected here and I really don't want to open a can of worms, I just want a resolution.

I'm going to PM the other member a link to this post and see if we can get this all resolved. I paid good money, and I think I deserve the complete item I paid for. Why should I be out on the limb??

Thanks for litigating!

I think we had a case like this earlier in the year. I believe it ended up being a misunderstanding and things worked out. Give the seller a chance as you are trying to do. I don't think you'll have to put them on blast.....good luck........Phil

Thanks for the input Phil. I do hope to resolve this without getting in a piss match, but I'm not sure how it will happen. Seller stands strong that he put it in the package, UPS stands strong that it wasn't tampered with, and I stand strong that it wasn't in the pack. I haven't heard much from the seller, this is why I'm publicly posting, we'll have to see how it pans out.

Wow, I don’t know where to start; all I can say is that I’m honestly surprised the turn this took. It’s amazing how quick people are to jump to conclusion without trying to communicate 1st. Older members and owners of this board know me enough to know that I’ll never get on a piss off fight for $50. If you were on long enough, you would’ve known that I’m not that guy.

Ron (hope I remember your name, sorry if I got it wrong),
Since you decided to go public about this, let’s lay it out, a simple phone call however would’ve been better & easier than posting this thread but, I’ll play by your rules I guess.
When I posted the Dice for sale, you pmed saying that you were interested in just the adapter. Since I had 2 DSP adapters, I agreed to sell you one. You offered $50 for something I bought in April $80 without shipping. I agreed & I shipped adapter and wires all in ONE single UPS envelop. I paid $16.86 to ship them to you 2 business days.

On Wed 7/23 I logged on to Xoutpost.com around midnight & saw that you pmed saying that you received the package but the adapter was missing. I immediately replied and gave you my number saying it was ok to call that late because I was stunned by your pms and wanted to solve this ASAP. We spoke and you told me because you found the envelop downstairs because when it was delivered, you weren’t home & “your dad opened it and threw it down the stairs” for you to find. When you found it there were only wires in there no adapter.
We concluded the conversation by saying you were going to talk to your dad to see if he had seen the adapter. I also recommended that you looked around the stairs since you said he threw it down there.
I promised to call UPS which I did and they investigated extensively since I have a corporate account and been using them for the last 5 years. They told me that the package was delivered the same way they picked it up from my office, I even spoke to the guy that has been picking up my mail since day one and he assured that it wasn’t tampered with. Anyway long story short, they delivered timely. I called you back with this information on Thursday and you said you had talk to your delivery man too with the same results but you were going to talk to your dad again and I promised to do further investigations. You also said you were going away this weekend and wanted it for your road trip, I apologized for the inconvenience & we agreed to talk again after I talk to UPS again.
On Friday I started a formal investigation with them, since there were no update and you were travelling I didn’t call over the weekend. I left Saturday morning for Virginia Beach and was driving back tonight when I receive a text message from one of my friend here telling me about the thread you posted. I find it rather disappointing that you chose to go this route since you had my number and could’ve called.
I’m sorry I don’t check this forum when I’m on the beach especially since you told me you were going away as well. I just saw that you pmed me Saturday expressing your frustration. I had made the decision over the weekend to just send you the second adapter but since you this turns out this way, I’ll refund you your $$$ minus shipping that means $33.14and you can go buy a new adapter, They sell it here:
I’m sorry for the inconvenience but next time before you decide to go this route at least try calling whoever you’re dealing with instead of jumping to conclusion.
I refunded $33.14 to your Paypal.
Take care.
Sorry everyone for the long post!

I knew resolution was right around the corner ....Phil

I didn't jump to a conclusion, I knew it was still up in the air and I was hoping we can resolve this whole thing in front of piers. I do know that you're a much more prominent member here, so you have the benefit of the doubt for sure.

I wouldn't think a member of a close knit forum like Xoutpost would try and pull a fast one, and I'm not saying that you did, but this is a very awkward situation and although a very small transaction, a transaction nonetheless. I am only trying to get a fast resolution seeing that all my wires are run and I just need the adapter to get it to work.

I'd also like to clear something up. My father isn't one to lie, we share a name and he thought the package was for him. He wouldn't have thrown the envelope down stairs if an electronics adapter in the breakable form of a plastic box was inside. He only saw unbreakable wires.

About the money, I didn't know you bought the adapter so recently, you were selling something you didn't want, and I made an offer which you accepted. You didn't have to spend all that money to ship second day, we're both on the eastern seaboard so I would have received within 3 days either way.

I'm sorry you're offended by my public post, maybe I did jump the gun a bit. PM an address an I'll send your wires back.

take it off line. You should not have posted this without trying to work this out with Tijan first.

:dunno: don't know how to close it??

Anyway, i sent a couple messages his way with no response, how was I to know he was on the road all weekend??? Phone call?? Nah, sorry fried battery on my LG Dare, didnt get to the store till Sunday afternoon. Anyway I'm all for resolving personally, and maybe I was a bit impatient, but I am traveling this week and would have liked my ipod during this 3-day new england loop.

What I do not understand is what you were expecting from posting your issue publicly when you had good and direct communication with Tijanaw. There was absolutely no reason for that IMO. As you said yourself Tijanaw is a well respected member of this forum and for good reasons.

Well... where's the adapter??

Eh, I should have known that most would look past the issue and take sides.
