Yeah, when I saw that story, I thought that it was pretty funny that his wife could just tell the cops to come back the next day.

If you were a cop, would you just take her word on him even napping anyway? Isn't she a suspect?

Suspected of what? Being pissed off at her husband? Using a golf club to break her own property (car window)? Not exactly capital offenses.

Possibly filing a false police report. Or lying to the authorities. Unless the officers first on the scene were rent-a-cops which I doubt holds the same penalty. She originally told them she broke the rear window in a rescue attempt.
