well , my neck of the woods is the only country that knows how to make a machine that drives properly .
we don`t traditionally drive large vehicles because the older roads are blacktop cart tracks. I realise y`all think the X5 is an awsome machine but that`s because y`all used to driving big wobbly yank tanks . no matter , the X5 does feel like driving a van , albeit a medium sized van but like a van nonetheless . a Land Rover feels like a Land rover , a Landcruiser like a truck , X5 like a van , nuff said . |

http://image.hotrod.com/f/9023189/20...+side_view.jpg I've been to the UK enough times to realize that most of the secondary roads are just paved over cow paths lol. I couldn't imagine driving a Chevy Suburban over there, and it would be suicide to try it around Paris or Amsterdam with the narrow streets. I drove a 3 series from London to the Cotswalds a couple of times, and I've been to Swindon more times than I care to admit. (Yes, I know you're in Scotland, but most of my UK driving is in England and Ireland). You will have to point out the Scottish Auto manufacturers to me though ;) |

You guys/ladies are too funny.
I will say, it was most likely the cleanest place for miles. :bustingup Almost slept in it myself. :wow: Those reports on hotel rooms just FREAK me out. Slept on the edge of the bed, fully clothed. As far as actaully driving like a van; doesn't an X5 hold the 3rd fastestest time on the Nurburing? Well, with a v12 and 20mm drop. Sabine herself, couldn't break 10 minutes in a real van (Econoline) on Top Gear. |
I like dat big red van , looks cool .
I meant UK built cars generally speaking , yes some decent cars were built in Scotland , and the Leyland trucks and buses were good machines , still make excellent buses and built Volvo FL trucks until recently. not sure if Argyle cars still building . still build the best ships in the world . I still say and have heard other X5 drivers say it drives like a van try a Ford Transit or Mercedes Sprinter and feel the similarity . probably due to the weight and centre of gravity . yep , the X5 can go fast and handles well though . Thunder , hire yourself a Jaguar XF and drive around Scotland , you will love it , some amazing roads and XF is an excellent car . |
