Lol you think the DC area is bad try living in Buffalo hahahaha If I don't leave for vacation twice a year I go insane. We get two months of summer surrounded by shit, actually this year you guys got our usual haha:nanana: Driving is relaxing for me but idk what 800 miles is to you. Whatever you decide I hope it works out for the best. PS DC rocks man I love going down your way in april when you get the 70s weather buffalo dreams about. Little stroll around g-town or alexandria. You don't know how good you have it. Use your vaca time and drive north 8 hrs to Buffalo. I guarantee you will feel better about your home front haha Plus you can get some tasty chicken wings.

Anyone ever gone through a phase of "I don't want to drive as much anymore"? Ever since last year, I've gotten a bit leery of driving in general. Sure, I can easily do 2-3 hours nonstop but I've come to avoiding trips just because of this, and it's rarely enjoyable. I won't even drive 1 hour to visit some of my friends in Baltimore anymore because I just don't want to drive.. Don't get me wrong, I like the X3 and 325i very much, but the task of spending time, burning fuel operating a vehicle has become a huge deterrent.

It's not like I find much joy in driving anymore either, 95% of the time it feels like a chore. Really irritates the part of me that likes to experience/see new places. And ski. :banghead:

I know just how you are feel!I am getting old.......

Matt, you need to figure out how to sneak one of these into the U.S., or a regular 320d.

Seriously, I'd get one of those for my mother. Personally I dont like the current 3er range much, but it'd be great for my mom.

I test drove a VW Golf TDI today (went up to Frederick for this) and it was swell. It was exactly as I expected in every way. The manual gearbox was super easy (perfectly rev-matched downshifts anyone?), the ride was quiet and comfortable without being floaty at 120 km/h, and the fuel economy was decent. I reset the consumption meter and had an average of 6,1 l/100km (38 US mpg) on 60% highway driving, albeit most of the driving was not much more spirited than I normally drive. It certainly meets my "eco-responsibility" demands and most my driving demands. Couple ergonomic problems (cruise control, for starters) and the touchscreen radio is more complex than it needs to be. And the units on the speedometer are wrong.

I don't think I'm ready for the TDI though. I believe that if I did eventually buy this car, I'm pretty much ready to give all aggressive, fun driving up. It's not deficient in any technical aspects (it is a bit nose-heavy), but it's a lot like my mother's 325i: incredibly dull to drive around town. I'd probably fall asleep at stoplights. And I'm not ready give up my X3's excitement yet, even if it's twice as thirsty, half as quick to merge, and 3x as pointless because it's a SUV.

As for spring break, once again I've managed to ruin it due to lack of proper planning. Parents won't approve of such a long road trip to Murrells Inlet in SC. I desperately need somewhere warm to be for the rest of break; if this means driving down to Wilmington NC to watch it rain on the beach, so be it. :damn:.

Yeah, I wouldn't trade your X for one either to be honest.

Matt, you seriously need a girlfriend. You are 21 in college, you should be partying and getting laid right now. Trust me you won't get back this time. Lay off this forum for a little bit & get out and socialize. It's healthier for you!!!
