Just heard a Harvard physicist say the earth's rotation sped up by .6ms due to the effect of the plates shifting 6 feet thereby shrinking the earth and causing the earth to spin faster. He used the example of a spinning skater pulling in their arms to go faster.

No. They were not correct. They were a bunch of pyramid building blood thirsty neanderthals. With that said I secretly use their nonsense and that of others to justify spending more money than I should.:rofl::rofl:

Haiti = "big one" we've been expecting on the east coast. Happened the day after that lecture in Earth Systems.
Chile = on top of one of the biggest subduction zones in the world. Not an abnormal occurrence. |

And he was a nut case. The guy spent his life writing down random poems or whatever and all of a sudden he is special because a handful of them sound relevant after 500 years. To me that's like the guy who plays scratch off lottery every day of the week and then celebrates winning 1000 bucks after losing for ten years.

Three Gorges Dam and the Earth's rotation | The Energy Library Pretty interesting facts, both earthquake and dam. And another earthquake just happened in Taiwan. |
It is interesting to see more than one culture / prophet / religious book point to one specific time as 'the end'. I am sure that the people living in 1900-1940 thought they were in the end times also.
