Is the lounge forum slowly dying?
 

Just popped back on here and it seems that there are a lot less posts....is it slowly dying?

You are right, I stopped submitting because the moderators are just like military to what to write and how. I give up!

The Mods here, and the Owners, are very supportive and allow for extreme breadth on topics, opinions, tangents and good stuff, imo.

Jeesshhh, I've had drinks and laughs with all of them, at one time or another, and if they don't censor/toss this ol' fool, they are obviously accommodating and tolerant. :rofl:

...Don't know where that mods comment came from.....I was talking strictly about traffic, # of posts etc. - jes seemed way lower to me than back in d'olden days.

I do think that the lounge has less traffic at the moment. I don't think it is due to over-moderation, I agree with others that the mods are very fair. I think that the core group that joined when the site was founded have moved on to other vehicles in many cases, and we are seeing a natural cycle of ebbs and flows in membership as the X5 platform matures. We no longer have the same frontier/early adopter issues as we did in 2001-2003 in the regular forums, it is more about invoice price, winter tires, and a style of modifications that appeals to those who can now afford a well-used X5. That group doesn't seem to frequent the lounge as much as the original crowd.

connman, I see you had 10 posts in all of 2009, and only this one in 2010. Either a whole bunch got mass-deleted, or your migration away from this site happened quite a while ago.

I think facebook has a lot to do with the decreased traffic in the lounge. Plenty of useless posts there :rofl:

^ Above in red is probably true. But IMO that would likely be a younger crowd do to the lower price of a used X5, (compaired to when they were still new) which, in my mind the youger crowd tend to be post whores.

But this is not the case as you are saying it is on the decline. I just became a member here, and I am a post whore! lol. But I find it hard to be a verbal slut..... when know one else is talking. I would love to talk about X5's all day, but I would be talking to my self. Kind of a bummer, but I guess the higher price of a X5 is keeping a large portion of ppl away... compaird to a Honda civic fourm.

It's all about "camaraderie"

JCL is correct. The core group that joined when the site was founded basically knew each other and had much in common. There was a lot of innocent bashing, joking, teasing and down right having fun. But times changed, new people came, the site grew and people moved on. Every now and then there's a spark and the fire resumes but that was then and this is now.

Hopefully the new folks will remember what this site was founded on. "Come for the information, stay for the friendships".:thumbup:
