Done deal! Give me your FFL information and I'll send you a nice little Lorcin with faux pearl handles. :D Of course that would mean I'd have to find one since I'd never even let one get near my gun safe.
You have expensive taste in 1911s. I'd love a Nighthawk Custom, any of their guns. Or a 10-8 Performance pistol. Heck, I'd be pretty happy with a Springfield TRP or Professional. I'll just have to suffer with my SA Loaded Champion LW for now. :( |
Yeah, I'm blessed to have semi-custom 1911s right now (or lucky that my wife allows me to buy these :D).
But I've always been a fan of the 1911 design. My first gun was actually a Para-Ord P13 (double stack 1911 commander size). My second gun was the Les Baer TRS. I sold the P13 right after I got that gun. The difference between a production gun and a semi-custom gun is really night and day. Btw, I'm also a fan of the Springfield Professional and it might be my next gun. But the wait time is ridiculous, I had one on order for over a year and gave up and just ordered the Nighthawk. I do think I'm good with small arms right now though since every gun I own has a different purpose. The CBOB is my carry piece. The CQB Elite 9mm is my main range gun (cheaper ammo). The TRS is my 45 range gun. The GRP is my nightstand gun since it has a light. I think it's time for me to get into some long arms :D or maybe actually start modding my stock M3! edit: here are some pics of my TRS modified by John Harrison, my CQB Elite, and my CBOB. Still need to break-in the Nighthawk so no pics yet. |
btw, my wife also has a 1911 nightstand gun...an STI Off Duty in 9mm :D
(lets just say she works for the DOJ) http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/6561/img1700r.jpg |
Dang Darwin! That is some nice iron you've got there. Obviously you're a 1911 connoisseur, not just a admirer. Everything you've done on them is great. I love the satin hard chrome finish for a carry gun. The 9mm 1911 is a very underrated gem of a configuration. The cheaper 9mm ammunition is a big draw and that's why I recently bought a, gasp, Glock 19. I'm not a big Glock guy but they do the job well and I got it pretty cheap.
1911s are an addiction. I just recently got my first one after 20 something years of pistol ownership and I'm already looking forward to my next one. I was never all that comfortable with single action, especially as a carry gun but decided to make the change when it became a viable option for carry. (Authorization to carry 1911s came recently.) I don't think I will ever be without a 1911 now. Next one: Probably a 5" model for range use. If I can get a bobtail semi-custom for carry I'd be all over it. My poor little 1911. ;) http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/d.../rcgrips05.jpg |
Thanks...and nice carry piece you got there! I wish my cbob was a lightweight model. The bobtail does help with the concealment, but an all steel commander is still hefty.
You should definitely get a fullsize 1911 9mm...it's a joy to shoot. There's barely any recoil, plus you're right about the cheaper, easier to get ammo. And I do agree that 1911s are an addiction! Unfortunately, so does my wife. |

I grew up with this gun, and consider it an heirloom from my dad.
Series 70 Colt Combat Commander, in the scarce Satin Nickel finish. |
ooooh... a series 70 colt! The things I would do to that gun!!!
Nice heirloom http://www.xoutpost.com/images/smilies/thumbup.gif |

I agree... If it was already an heirloom, I would keep it stock. But if I were to start the heirloom, then I would definitely do some custom work. Either way, I want one!
