JUST CHECK THE RECALLS FOR CHEVY AND BMW . THATS WHY BMW COST MORE BUT IS WORTH IT.CHEVY PUT THE ONSTAR IN THEIR CAR SO YOU COULD CALL THEN WHEN YOU BREAK DOWN OR THEY COULD GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU WITH THEIR MONTHLY RECALLS. :thumbdown

Stability.
If we were talking about manuverability I would never have mentioned any Mercedes :)
Or is that even something we can mention about the X5 either! 5500+lbs takes a lot to throw around.

The T-Reg is a very stable suv :)

gresch, you tell me? I like to drive decent cars. :D

we all do - we're just discussing why :)

and i have to disagree with you about the tauaeroiwereg (i can never remember how to spell it), my friend kelly has one, it's 1 trip to VW Service away from qualifying for the lemon law. (JD Power seems to agree as well, the only SUV's with worse reliability are the Land Rovers)

should we discuss window regulators? control arms? CV joint boots? bad sunroof switches? stolen xenons?

every brand has problems... and by the way, OnStar in BMW's is called BMW Assist :) :)

B-Line and TommyX have both either taken the X on the track and auto-x'ed it and they both did pretty well and lots of people were impressed... The ML.. that's a different story... and the X doesn't weigh anywhere close to 5500 wet unless you weigh 500 lbs.. :p..

BTW, go drive the new SLK.. I came away pretty impressed with the handling.

I looked at ML's back in '01 when I got my first X5, and I know that MB has made changes since then, but holy crap back in '01 the MB SUV's were complete crap.... are they better now?

Don't hate the messenger, sometimes the truth hurts :(

(remember, I have both brands, and the parents had one of the dreaded '01 Envoys and now have a Yukon, I'm well versed in both sides of this discussion).

What I find completely entertaining is that by our silence we all seem to not even consider Ford's :) :)... and rightly so.

SANguru 12-05-2005 12:07 AM

they made improvements.. you can really only move up when the initial ML was that bad...
