I agree.. but i still love my Pioneer Elite plasma... jejejeje :D

There is a lot of false info out there concerning plasmas. A recent quote said that a plasma costs more to run than a lcd(electricity use). Plasma tv usually runs at 20% of its maximum.

i have a plasma pioneer 6100hd , very happy so far , i bought it locally but did most of my research at www.plasmacity.com

I have a Panasonic 37" Plasma in the Bedroom and a 51" 100mhz Sony RetroProjector with my Home Dvd system in my large Living room and I must say the Sony has a better quality picture.
Any prospective LCD/Plasma buyers should take a dvd into the shop and play it on both and choose then which is better!
Hard to believe, but when I bought my Sony Retro I went a Sony store looking to buy a Plasma but after playing an "Ice age" DVD and "Ghostship" on both ,I raised my cheque for the cheaper and BIG Retroprojector!
I was also a bit concerned about the "burning in" problem of the Plasmas!
Three years on and I am still impressed with my Sony.I only watch DVDs on it and its very cinema like!!!!!

That's great. :thumbup: Nothing like a big screen movie. FYI, the burn-in thing on plasmas is a bunch of last year's hype. Don't believe it. A DLP screen bulb might last 1000-2000 hours and cost $250 each year to replace. A new plasma will last 15-20+ years at 8 hours a day on average, before it loses half it's brightness. But really, who among us wants to keep ANY TV that long? Most of us here upgrade our technology just like we upgrade our cars, which is every few years or every major change in AV technology. So, for many of us, the HD display we buy today will probably be moved to the kid's room in 4 or 5 years anyway. I am already on my second set of HD TV's for example, in just 2.5 years.

I think one thing some people do wrong is that they don't fully understand what resolution the source is vs. what the native screen rez is. And then they make judgments on what looks better based on that lack of understanding. Lower resolution displays can actually look BETTER to the eye than higher rez displays if they are displaying a pure, native, unconverted format vs. a display that is upconverting something and doing a horrible job at it. The scalers in the cable boxes these days are generally not good, and some TV's also have lousy scalers. It is really important to configure your equipment precisely so that nothing is being stretched, converted up and then down, or being upconverted with the lesser quality of two available scalers. JMHO.

upstairs in my theatre room i have a rear projection toshiba and downstairs above the fireplace i have the 61" plasma - With a hd signal both produce outstanding pictures which are indistinguishable for the human eye. The plasma does seem to do better with digital signals. fyi
