BeoVision 11 - Bang & Olufsen

Here ya go! They don't list the price, but it can't be that expensive, can it?

Ah, thanks for that link, BigD...
$6Gs for the Forty Incher. Even if I hit the lotto it wouldn't be on my short list, though I do like the setup in the corner of the ol'French Chateau mansion.

Doesn't everyone have a dozen, strategically located, about their castle?

I was going to pick one up for my bathroom, but then the "new normal" happened.

what did you end up getting? inquiring minds want to know!

i was having this same internal battle at the exact same time...and missed this thread. after LOADS of research myself, i ended up going with the Panasonic 65" GT50 plasma. I couldn't be happier.

just had it ISF calibrated. anybody who is curious is welcome to come check it out. i'm in Charlotte.

ordered from amazon on dec 23rd afternoon, and it arrived dec 24th morning (i was exceptionally well-behaved this year). free overnight shipping as an amazon prime member...with 30 day satisfaction guarantee that if you don't like it, send it back. amazon prime is a HUGE no-brainer for me. pretty much gives you free overnight or 2 day shipping on just about everything and all kinds of other benefits.

i can also WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend a new receiver...Pioneer SC-1222k, the internals of which are all but identical to the Elite SC-63 and other Pioneer models selling for about $1000+. the 1222 goes for $549 on Newegg. Power out the WAZOO with the new Class D amps on board. Plenty to drive 5 power hungry B&W's.

anyway, Plasma is the way to go in my opinion. the picture isn't as bright per se, but it is EXTREMELY natural and accurate. I turn off the lights all the way at the beginning of movies to watch white on black credits appear because it's so pretty :D

Russianblue,
We got a Sharp 70" LE 640U...~$2Gs at WorstBuy, back in late January. We had it delivered to store and we picked it up in a borrowed Chev Tahoe.

Easy to set up, fiddled with some settings, looks great. Comcast connection...

Looked at TVs until I was numb, and that Pano Plasma was in the hunt; we do have a slightly bright non-night viewing situ however, and that made me drop plasmas off the list.

Ours has no 3D, but for what we watch it is very, very good. Will it 'last', keep running? That seems to be the expensive question with TVs these days. Looking at ext warranties, but may roll the dice. For ~$2Gs this was the size I wanted, the pic quality, etc.

TVs are like golf club brands or cars: everyone has faves, but it boils down to needs/perceived pic quality/price.
GL, mD

yep. you are correct. sharp makes a good set though...ESPECIALLY if it looks good to YOU in YOUR setting. as i have gotten older i have started going with gut vs stats. kinda like the NFL combine....some of those guys won't broad jump very well, but will be All-Pro someday!
