Was the X5 your first BMW
Just curious. I have started to pick up that for most of us the X5 was not our first BMW. It seems like most people where drawn to BMW for there cars but then out of practicality and and then not wanting to give up the ride and comfort that BMW provides we hop on the X5 train. Is that the case with you?
I don't think I would have bought my X5 if I had been driving other cars and decided I wanted an SUV. Probably would have ended up with a Jeep. |
first one for me

First and only so far. :)

Our '01 X5 is our first and currently only BMW...
Bought it in 9-2001, as the CEO's Jeep GC had ~90k miles. Was tired of Jeeps, wanted a 'change' in another AWD suv like car. Not sure any Xs or BMWs of any model, are on my short list, for future cars, but our '01 has been rock solid, dependable and fun to drive. GL, mD |
Not my first BMW, but I liked the look, needed something bigger that was also AWD and came in a stick. Very few cars meet my requirements and the X5 checked almost all the boxes.

Third BMW car, there was an R50/5 in there too. 1994 318, 2003 325xi for my wife, and I wanted a 2003 5 series touring, but couldn't get one without the sunroof, which left insufficient headroom. Didn't need awd. Drove the X5 for four years and enjoyed it, but went back to a sedan.

The E53 was the second BMW for me. It was replaced this year by a F15 which has been surprisingly good so far. First was a 2001 330xi which I still own. I'll probably keep it as a winter driver and add something sporty to the stable next year.

The X5 was my 5th BMW. BMW has been the only brand I have driven for the past 30 years, and I have no plans to change course anytime soon.

I have had 3 2002's (72 02, '72 2002Tii, another 72 Tii) a 90 325ic, and now the e53.

I bought an 89 325is in highschool and still own it. Now I also have the X5.
