I suggest people stop the disparaging remarks in the For Sale Forum

This has happened recently, and some of us have been guilty of it to some degree:

Someone posts something for sale, and they seem to be asking a crazy price for it or have some minor error in the listing text, and people start chiming in with posts full of strong language or jokes, etc. It makes the post look bad and the poster likely won't get very much $$ for the item or it won't sell at all.

Can we post a sticky with some rules of conduct for those For Sale forums and try to stick to whatever rules we lay down?

Maybe make sure that offers are submitted via PM or email? Request that sellers honor the first offer they receive and give the initial buyer the chance to counter subsequent offers? Request that no one post anything negative in the for sale thread that can't be proven? IE: Someone posting HRE wheels for sale and claiming that they are OEM BMW equipment wheels- which we all know to be false- that would be ok for posters to point out the error on, but someone chiming in and saying someone is crazy for asking for $1000 for their OEM 20" stlye 87's would not be cool.

Just getting tired of seeing people get clubbed for trying to sell something here.

That's exactly what I had in mind. It's just not necessary for someone to pull out the club and start beating up on someone for thinking their item(s) are worth more than the perceived going rate.

I totally agree about the "free ebay" rule and think that posters with a handful of posts which are all For Sale posts should be looked on with some skepticism.

Thanks very much, Jeff. I have no desires to be a moderator, but I've seen some stuff recently that led me to ask for some rules.

For me to quote previous postings would be counterproductive. I ain't trying to single out anybody, just hoping we can move on without the sniping.

Selling stuff in that forum is fine...
using it as an initial post(s) entree'
and mini eBay acquistion source is not
that forum's, or the general Board
intent, imo.

Good pts, but I'd be curious to read
some of the Mod's/Admins opins.

It's a public board, so maybe we are
all full of crap, .

I'm not a Mod's/Admin but i like the fact that we have some guidelines. I welcome them and I am happy to comply. But I guess for some it's hard not to respond to what in their view is the sublime and the ridiculous. I have seen a few references that were IMHO a bit off the wall.

JV. I hope others pay attention to your concerns. However as you are well aware as long as there are differences in people there are gonna be some interesting and different ways to exchange information. I agree though that these exchanges should be in good taste.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen! You bunch of losers don't know a thing, and all you do is post useless stuff!

Oh, sorry. Lost control for a second. Yeah, I think the guidelines are good, too.
