the Main/Home page, sans the post... ![]() Tried it on IE6; now Opera. November 10, 2007 Norman Mailer, Outspoken Novelist, Dies at 84 By CHARLES McGRATH Norman Mailer, the combative, controversial and often outspoken novelist who loomed over American letters longer and larger than any writer of his generation, died today in Manhattan. He was 84. He died of acute renal failure at Mount Sinai Hospital early this morning, his family said.Mr. Mailer burst on the scene in 1948 with “The Naked and the Dead,” a partly autobiographical novel about World War II, and for the next six decades he was rarely far from the center stage. He published more than 30 books, including novels, biographies and works of nonfiction, and twice won the Pulitzer Prize: for “The Armies of the Night” (1968), which also won the National Book Award, and “The Executioner’s Song” (1979). |

V,
I'm still working on bringing my IE6 back from it's "stroke", lol! It's about 95% back. I have no current interest in IE7; Opera was/is a trial: some parts of it I like, some I don't and, I'm not 100% up to speed on it. It is an interim browser while I'm remediating IE... Fwiw, I tried Firefox last year; I saw no great bene to me and much of the flash is for stuff I never or seldom use. I'm a stranger in a strange land, when it comes to fiddling with stuff in my 'puter. My son-in-law, very knowledgeable, is ready to shoot me, lol! Last edited by motordavid; 11-10-2007 at 01:00 PM. |
