Audio upgrade question
I just leased a 06 X5. It didn't come with the DSP. The radio / CD sound is par at best, but I would like to get a little better sound. Since it's leased, I don't want to pour a lot of money into the stereo, so I was wondering, can I find a BMW amp or something that might boost the power a little to give it a better sound.
I have seen the speaker packages available from BSW, is that enough for better sound? Thanks. |
:xoutpost: Tom G will prob respond with some ideas.

El Duderino or BSW can help in this department as we deal primarily in OEM upgrades.

A BSW Stage 1 speaker upgrade and a sub package (JL 10" Stealthbox/amp or BSW 8" Alumapro/amp) would be a great audio upgrade. Add an HD Radio or DICE IPOD kit from EAS, and you will have an inexpensive and effective solution that is totally reversible and lease-friendly.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for.

My suggestion would be to proceed step by step. Start by adding a sub amp amp and sub woofer. As NCX suggested JL 10" Stealthbox/amp or BSW 8" Alumapro/amp are great choices. You will immediately feel a big difference. Much more profound bass which will significantly improve the listening experience. A lot of people are satisfied by this simple improvement. If you want more then go for BSW stage 1 as a second step.

Where do I find info on the 10" Stealthbox/amp? Does the amp just help the Stealthbox bass, or does improve the mid range and high end?
|
Pic up a plug-and-play 10" subwoofer with amp from bavauto.com or other vendors.
Plugs directly into stock harness in the rear with no destruction of OEM items, and can be removed after your lease is up. |
As stated above, both our Stage 1 system, and our xh108 subwoofer system are both lease-friendly, incredible sounding upgrades for your vehicle. What exactly are you looking at for your stereo? Better depth and clarity? More bass? Or simply more volume? These questions will really determine which route you should pursue first.

I really dojn't care about loud volume, I guess I really care about about hearing the clarity, getting more out of the system without having it burst my ear drums. I want to hear it crystal clear, all the treble, and get the power of bass through the midrange, like the old loundness buttons use to do.
