IceLink on NAV screen

Hello,

I just purchased the IceLink for my X5 with NAV and I'm having a little difficulty with displaying text on my NAV screen. I have sound (and sounds real good btw :D) but I can't seem to figure out how to get the song titles to show up on my LCD. I'm looking at on of the docs that came with my IceLink referrring to the firmware I currently have which is firmware v.2BB2. All my connections are snugly in place.. Anyone know what the deal is here?

Thanks for your assistance!

Try reviewing these instructions - http://www.densionusa.com/support_fi...are_manual.pdf

What is displaying on the iPod? Do you have any controls at all? What happens when you press the "6" button on the radio/nav unit?

The ipod has the song title displayed on the screen. When I presss the #6 buttton it simply jumps into another play list I'm assuming :dunno: I'm soo close to getting this done it's not funny :loser:

I would contact Dension and ask for the v22B2 firmware update files.

Perhaps, but would would I do with the update files if I got them? I do have one thought.. Prior to purchasing the IckLink I was asked to do a series of steps to determine wheather or not I have DSP. After doing this it was brought to my attention that I in fact do not have DSP. However I have a DSP section in the sterio settings munu... I'm thinking that I'm missing some sort cable to allow text to be shown on the LCD because truly there isn't much involved if any to punching buttons on the head unit and getting this working.

The DSP adaptor is only to provide audio and will have no impact on what is displayed on the nav screen. If you have a 2003 or newer X5 then there's a 99% chance that you don't need the DSP adaptor (even if you have DSP in your X5).

What you would do with the update files is to update the firmware in the IceLink control unit. There are instructions on how to do the update that come with the firmware files. Basically they are encoded MP3 files that you load on your iPod and play them like songs. This transmits information to the IceLink to update the firmware.

Yeah I see what your saying. I got my IceLink from Tom, and he told me I had the latest and greatest firmware available. He most definitely knows his stuff so I'm certian it's something I'm doing incorrectly on my end. I'm looking on DensionUSA's website and I don't see my firmware version listed. I'll keep looking.

Oh Yeah, I'm looking at the owners manual and it keeps refering to iPod play lists. Is it required to have your music cataloged in a play list in order to have text picked up on the NAV?

Thanks!

Thanks for the firmware!! I reflashed the firmware but as I do, it tends to stops at mp3 #159 out of 581. I attempted it twice with the same result..Is that normal? I would imagine it would go all the way up to 581.

Thanks again!

Mine only showed to #99 and then completed. It should show the firmware version on your iPod when you plug it into the IceLink connector

Yeah that's cool. Well I get the same results, no text on LCD  .. I'll keep pluging away at it and post the fix if there is one.

Thanks for your time!

Thanks for your time!

You're playing the files from the iPod - the ILP is not going into flash state. Here are the procedures:

1) Turn on iPod (do not connect to ice>Link).
2) Scroll over to the Start_update.mp3 file. This is usually in the Music>Genres>_Config>All>Update folder.
3) PLay the specified file, it is 0:59 seconds long, the iPOd will need to be connected to the ice>Link within this time.
4) Turn the key to the "on" position and select CD Changer/iPod mode
5) Connect iPod.
6) DO NOT DISCONNECT the iPod or turn off the radio while in the updating process, this will take about 5 minutes to complete, it will reboot the iPod when completed. The tracks will count from 1 to 99 in this mode as well.

Let me know if you need additional assistance!
